Getting packed in. Any recommendations would be great.

At last minute, I hired an outfitter to pack in my gear to assist my son and I for our pack in Muzzleloader season. I know, I cheated! But anyhow, I get two mules for 320 lbs. If you have been packed in before and have some good ideas, or bad ideas, I would love to hear about them. Thanks

What is the outfitter providing at the camp?  What area are you hunting?

He is packing in just my stuff, whatever I can bring, up to 320 lbs. I am gonna stay with a two man tent still, and a tarp if needed. GMU 356

A couple of suggestions,  make a menu and stick to it pretty close.  Take one day extra of food case your packer cannot get you on tyhe predetermined day.  Clothes take one extra set of outer but daily of under. Good raingear will double your outer clothes for warmth.  A really good bag is worth the money since you will not have wood heat.  With the menu plan your kitchen that you do not need a pot or pan for just one meal.  These are just a few suggestions. A battery tap light or small lantern may be all the light you need.

Bigger tent even if it is a wally world cheapo with a tarp over it. will be alot more comfortable and give you room to cook in tent if need be. I packed a nice camp on one mule. didnt eat fresh food but had plenty of snacks and mtn.house. no beer sucked. lots of sleeping pads. had a heater buddy. good game bags not flimsy cheese cloth.

I would take a small wall tent, a small stove and a big tarp and eat mountain house meals every night.  The tent and warmth would be worth it when the rain starts.  Trust me, I have been there for the past 10 years and it can get outright nasty.
