Frustrated
« on: September 30, 2011, 08:56:01 AM »
Why is it that every time I walk or ride my bike into an area, I end up running into quads/motorcyles/trucks? Anyone else been having this problem? Specifically I am talking about areas around Shelton, mainly Green Diamond and Port Blakely. The 800 mainline has had the gate open on some days, even if its closed both Kelly road and cougarsmith are open, but it says right on the gate its closed to motorized access, I imagine they are waiting until rifle deer to open it, as they have done in the past. Everyone I've talked to wants to just play dumb and say they didn't know. Last night the gate to the 800 line was closed, I still ran into some young kids in a Toyota, riding in the passenger seat was a kid I talked to 2 nights before... who said the gate was open and he didn't know he wasn't allowed back there. BS.

I know I sound like a whiney girl but I always follow the rules and do things the hard way, only to still get pissed on by other dip*censored*s who don't care.

I used to know a guy that just drove to fast to read the signs and I guess didn't care to.  He would say "if they didn't want anybody in there, then the gate would be closed" and things like that.  This was in the Dickey when he was asking why so many people were riding bicycles when the gates were open.

A buddy of mine is walking into his area this weekend, every year like clock work opening morning the quads go by, so he already called the security and and said look be here at this time on this day an I guarantee they will be rolling in, hopefully this year they will have a surprise waiting for them, road hunters always figure out a way to keep on road hunting.  Funny this don't happen much during modern, however it would take brave man to ride in and piss off a bunch of rifle hunters.

I have never had this happen and ruin a hunt or a hike. I am sure it does, like many other things that hunters complain about. This seems to be the major bitch this season. (I'm sure tribal threads are to come.)

The answer if you want is to get the Number for the Sherriff's office or the Company who owns land, document all the information and turn it over. There is nothing else to do but deal with it or go somewhere else. By all means petition for stiffer regulation but what we have now isn't worth mentioning. I counted what could have been $2000.00 worth of Discovery Pass fines during archery. Not a single LE to speak of. So it goes.

The main problem is in Washington the Forest Service is totally anti ATV. Everything is closed and in the NE corner they seem to pretty much ignore the closers as the norm. The Forest Service needs to negotiate better. But they won't, so nothing will change.

Hell, that happens during modern more often than not.. if you have hunted Weyerhauser property much....  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

That's mainly where all I hunt, your right though that Burma walk in gets it bad, not so bad behind silverlake, lately those walk in areas been open for modern anyways.  Where I'm talking about is in Ryderwood, owned by Campbell Group, or is it Sierra Pacific, Melton road area.

I remember when I was younger and my dad and I were hunting near Chewelah and we walked in behind a closed gate. We were about a 1/4 mile in and a jeep goes cruising by us. We were pretty pissed and to make things worse, about a minute later and around the bend we heard gun shots. We couldn't believe it but we kept walking and ended up seeing the guys out looking for blood. My dad was trying to take the high road and teach me a lesson about being the better man so we asked them if they needed any help or anything and they said nope but they just missed one of the biggest whitetails either of them had ever seen!  :bash: When we hiked back out we saw where they drove through the brush and up this little bank to get around the gate. What a bunch of pukes!  :spank_butt:

I can't believe the nuts these people gotta have to pull that kinda stuff. When I was a kid we used to ride quads and motorcycles, a lot of it we did behind gates but we knew when hunting season came around to not be back there, not only for our own safety but just out of respect. I've had words with plenty of people, always keeping my cool and telling them what they are doing is wrong but they never seem to feel guilty.

Takes all kinds I guess...

Closed gates....open gates. Doesn't matter, It's all road hunting to me. I get off all of the road systems where you have no choice but to climb and hike during deer season and I never have this problem.

We have phones. Take a picture, take a plate. Problem solved.

I have never taken my ATV on public land hunting in WA. But, I also would not do the above. I don't think that motorized bozo's are the problem.

Now, UGLY PETA PUKES playing music and beating drums claiming that because they are there I can't hunt, that annoys me. People walking, I have seen GAME run to the next county. Rigs, GAME doesn't mind unless they stop and get out. (Gunshots would do it as well.)

I have seen Recreational Motorcycle clowns screw up Archery hunters, (Intentionally) I would not mind accept they were on illegal trails a ways off any legal road. (That was wrong.)

The Public Land Scene is crowded now days, even if everyone followed ethics and rules. And, people don't follow rules or ethics. Unfortunately, in Washington above many other States we are not going to work together to change for the good. We each have our specialties and our own likes and dislikes. Government and ANTI groups play us against each other. I'd recommend going farther away, even from locked gates to avoid all this drama.  :twocents:

I agree but there isn't a lot of climbing or hiking that can be done around here unless you're on a trail or a road, at least to get to your spot. So goes blacktail hunting.  :bash:

They're bad about it here in Timberlakes.  GD had to come out and drop stumps where they created their own entrance to get behind the locked gates.  I give it a year and they'll have soemthing else figured out.

I was about to draw back on what would have been the biggest buck of my life( 4 miles in)  a few years back when a toyota came pulling around the corner on a gated road, all the gates were closed and they drove around them. I gave them a nice little talk!!!
A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be, time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, the animals, and fish that live there”.- Fred bear
