Upland hunting in the Entiat Valley (looking for help)
« on: October 03, 2011, 04:24:25 PM »
I am going to be up in the Entiat Valley area deer hunting next weekend and possibly scouting and setting up camp this weekend and I would love to get my dog in to some birds.

Anyone willing to share some info on areas to find birds?  (chuckers, quail, etc. :dunno:)

I am normally in the Mud and Potato Creek area and know a few areas but would like to find a few more areas to hit. I have tried hunting birds before while was up there but when ever I have my dog, the birds are no where around  :bash: but they seem to be there when I got a rifle in my hand  :chuckle:

Any help or advise would be appreciate it  :hello:

Well, either no one hunts birds in the Entiat area, or unwilling to help a brother out   :dunno:

That's cool  ;)

I have seen a few up there (huns, quail).  Just not good numbers, but, I haven't been up there for birds, just deer.  If you drive up the highway, just before the tunnel at chelan, take Stayman Flats road on the right.  Go down a few miles to the access for the south side of chelan bluff.  They release pheasants up there, though not too often.  You will also find Huns, Grays, and quail.  Hope this helps.

You can also go through the tunnel, and take the gravel road on the right about a 1/4 mile north of tunnel.  But, if you go stayman flats rd. that is the area they release pheasants.  I have seen pheasants in the tiny apple orchard you drive through just before the wildlife area.
