Well not too much of a story to tell. A friend of my Dad who has been trying to get him to go hunting for a couple years now finally convinced him to go this year. His friend who is a muzzle loader hunter put him in for the special permit drawing for the muzzle loader colockum tag and he drew with 0 points!
We didn’t have a lot of time to scout due to work issues but on the days we did go up we saw quite a bit of elk so it looked to be a pretty good area.
My little sister was in an AAU volleyball tournament on Saturday so we finally got up in the woods on Sunday morning and saw a nice little group of cows feeding just off the road in a draw about 300 yards away. So we parked the truck and decided to put a stalk on them and see if there was a bull in the area. We got to within about 100 yards or so and started cow calling. Within a few minutes this 4x2 bull came in and bugled at about 20 yards! It was so cool! With a 20 yard shot and about 80 yards from the road we just couldn’t pass him up. Dad was super excited. First elk and first time hunting!
