carsick dog
« on: October 07, 2011, 09:00:52 AM »
I have a one year old pup who is miserable while in the truck. He just sits there, head down and drools. He has stopped throwing up a few months ago and I thought he would get over it, but he's not. Anyone have this problem? If he sees me with a gun heading for the truck, he goes in the garage and lays down. I really want him excited about going hunting. Boatrides don't bother him at all. But if I put him in the bed of the truck, he tries to bail out, even tied down. Once I get moving, he lays down an drools.

Yeah, he's small enough to ride inside. He hates crates. I have to force him into those. Then he just shuts down.

dramamin( the motion sickness pills for people) or how ever you spell it, depending on dog's size cut it in half and put it in a hotdog about 20 or 30  minutes prior to leaving. works for my dog, he gets car sick every time with out it.

My lab was like that when she. Was a puppy. I had to chase her down to get her in the truck. The trouble went away when she got big enough to see out the windows. Now when she sees me coming down the hall with a shotgun, I open the back door to let her out and she runs around the house to sit in the driveway next to the truck. Doesn't even stop at the food bowl. I think they generally outgrow it.

My dog used to do the same.  The good thing is he would at least clean up after himself.  He had it all put back down by the end of the trip. :EAT:
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
