Help me with my antique spin casting reel
« on: October 12, 2011, 08:45:43 AM »
I inherited an almost unused Wright & McGill "Stream and Lake" spin casting rod, Model 88A, circa 1961 to 67.  I'd like to change out the line, but I'm a little confused given that this is unlike any spin casting rod I've ever seen.

Any help would be appreciated

I can post photos if needed

Don't do it, leave the line on for antique value!

:yeah:

I had an antique baitcast reel, changed out the line, now looks like crap and doesn't work nearly as good as new reels.
I agree leave it as is with the old line and just admire it :twocents:

I'd like to use it.  These old reel have a value of less than $10.00 on E-Bay.

Sorry my previous post was about the reel, didn't see that it was the rod you were asking about  :sry:. Heck --give it a try---why not.

I made an error typing, it is a reel.  I fiqured out how to change the line, but I'll probably keep what's there for now.

But I am going to use it, seems like a shame not to use a fine unused American made product for its intended use
