My favorite hunt. Fun when you get to track a flock through the timber in the snow. You gotta be real sneaky.

The turkeys I shoot are stupid. You just pop out of your truck or get off your bike and bang, turkey dinner :chuckle:

If you like to "pop out of your truck " or "shoot from the porch" I think Safeway has some nice Butterballs you can sneak up on in the freezer case!  A lot cheaper too.

 :yeah:
Half the fun is scattering the flock and fall calling them back in ...

Of course I'm not adverse to pre-season scouting their movements and setting up my pop-up blind in their path while waiting for them to march by as I sit on my tripod stool, drink a latte, and keep warm from my pesto-lighted heater.

Find their roost and feeding areas. I've arrowed a few out of my tree stand November and December waiting for Mr buck.

My son took his first bird last year in the cold and snow.  It was a lot of fun.  I'm going to try to see if my other son can get his first with his bow this year.

fun times to be had with the late turkeys.
we hunt them the same time we are archery hunting. easy to get permission as well. by that time they are bunched up and driving home/land owners crazy.
