Every year when we hunt Mt or Id we race over, throw the wall tent up, throw on the hunting clothes and hurry into the woods. That night we throw weiners in the frying pan on the stove and crack a bottle of the hard stuff. (whole milk.....Shhhhh, wives might hear  :chuckle:) I look forward to that meal above all others. And it's delicious!

Yes, whole homogenized milk has to be the best, and as with you, it is only found at camp during hunting season.

Best meal has been so far the Pot Roast my wife cooked in the dutch oven at elk camp.  3 years ago the first time and I still thank her everytime I think about it.

Maybe not the best, but definitely the most memorable was grouse, dorito's and Coors Light.  No joke, the grouse was amazing to me.  Never had it before.

Battered and fried walleye.

There are walleye in Wa?? I'm from Pa and would love to get into some of those guys!

It's not a 2" steak, rack or lamb, or a fish fry but a hot can of chilli really knocks the cold outa ya! Oh yeah and a cup of joe!

Best meal for us during the archery season was the beef brisket I smoked on my Traeger before leaving for the left. Served it with some JW BBQ and Hotlinks. The guys tore it up. They were pigs :chuckle: . I was asked to do it again next year.

We now prepare all of our dinners and freeze them before going hunting because we just get back to camp so late that we normally do not finish dinner till 10PM or so. So they are all good now :)

Although this thread is about you best meal ever...
Many years ago I drove a truck and delivered dry ice to many customers. I think I was 19 at the time (I'm now 51). One of my customers was a meat company who sold meat door to door. The guy I dealt with sold me some NY steaks after telling him we were going hunting. He always told me how good their steaks were..

One night after a real long day in the woods, we cooked up those steaks with potato's and onions and to this day we still talk about that meal as the best we ever had.....

OK, now I'm hungy!

ANY MOUNTAIN HOUSE MEAL AFTER A LONG DAY OF HUNTING!

Exactly! When big game hunting I normally don't have a comfy base camp- I usually hunt with camp on my back, so at the end of the day whatever Mountain House that I have is just about the best thing ever!
