Thanks
« on: October 15, 2011, 08:55:16 PM »
I just wanted to post a quick note to say thanks to everyone for all of the help with our elk hunt.  My dad and I saw a few very impressive bulls.  We had some good luck and some bad luck during the hunt.  The good news is that we were both fortunate to get nice bulls.  This was the first bull for my dad.  I called in one to within about 25 yards but my dad could not see him from his angle before he stepped back into the brush.  Within about 15  minutes I called in another one and my dad made a great shot at 104 yards.  Now for my turn.  A couple of nights  later I tried to shoot my gun to clean out the old powder and my trigger seized up.  So the next  morning I had to use my dad's gun, which I have never shot.  As luck would have it we got into a herd and called one in that I am sure would have been in the 350 range or better.  I took a shot at 107 yards and went right underneath him.  I was totally depressed.  I had to come home for a couple of days so I went and sighted in to be ready for the next hunt.  I went back to the same spot and was able to connect on this 6x5.  We were definitely blessed.  Thanks again for the help
