May be commercial blackmouth fishermen.

Herring.  Puget Sound has a pretty big herring fishery.

Could be geoducks or fixing herring nets.   :dunno:  I have seen divers go down to fix nets instead of hauling them aboard.

Hmmm...now I'm going to have go down to the pier and take a look. Haven't ever noticed any commercial boats down here.

How about removing all the old crappy tires that they used to try and build a reef years ago.

i dont think so cause with the size of the boats they wouldnt be able to haul very many, all the boats have a diver flag on there mast and some other flag the diver goes into the water and it looks like he is fed through air lines and then a net of some kind is let out in to the water but it drifts into a big half moon quit aways behind the boat, swanny i dont think you will be able to see them from des moines peir cause they are in that little cove in between des moines and salt water st park, i see them from 240th and marine vw drive

That's right along the route I run most days and closer than the pier, even better  :)
