Looking for predator/small game hunting partner close to Fort Lewis!

Hi there! I am new to the site, and glad to see so many people with so much knowledge about this area! I am an active duty soldier from Pittsburgh, PA. I have hunted all my life, everything from small game to trophy whitetail. Since I have been in the military the time that I had available has slipped through my fingers. Now that I am currently med-boarding from the military due to injury, I have once again picked up the bug! I have just purchased a brand spanking new tack driving setup good for even coyote! It is supposed to be delivered to my doorstep tomorrow. I plan on shooting all weekend and dialing in the new AccuShot UTC Leapers SWAT 4-16x44AO out to 100m with same hole accuracy. I'm sure that I will squeeze some time into my weekend to visit Cabelas in Lacey, WA. (South of Fort Lewis) Maybe we could meet up there and talk about downing some game. I have to pick up my license anyway. I am an adult and follow all rules and regulations; I have my own equipment; and most importantly I only hunt safely. If you do not do the same please do not reply to my post!

I really hope to find someone possibly in the immediate area, or maybe within a 20-25 mile radius. My setup is fully shrouded and is a very quiet shooter. I have heard that in the western part of washington, you can drive around the southern area's farms and spot for coyotes. Once spotted, ask for permission from said property owner, and have at it. That sounds like something I used to do in the farmlands in the Eastern part of PA. Good rabbit, hog and squirrel huntin' back home. But I have done my research, and I would love to learn a whole lot more! Hope to hear from someone soon!!!

Also, I had just thought of it... I think it is legal to hunt on post as well once you have registered the firearms you are using with Fort Lewis Admin. I will look into the details, just in case another fellow soldier wants to down some critters!

you are perfectly legal to hunt on Fort Lewis, Go to Northwest Adventure Center on North Fort. They will get you set up for hunting. One things that sucks most of the inner areas after deer season they are not open to rifle and you have to use shotgun.

AND... they don't usually get any rifle areas outside of the main modern firearms seasons. I hear its good for yotes but I don't know if its worth the hassle of being surrounded by meth dumps and buck fever shooter. Good luck if you do go that route let me know how it goes. My buddy and I are looking to get into this and I already have a foxpro wildfire or spitfire. I don't recall which but its only the 200 dollar model

Felt bad for stomping your dreams since I had the same one. Once my buddy and I figure out what were doing for predators you'd be welcome to come along. We're looking to really get into late december on into spring as long as hides still look good. Don't get too discouraged by the seeming lack of actual spots. Soon as I crack the wdfw/state land/covenant/no shooting here or there/no rifle code in the matrix I'll definitely share the info tho.

well i think ive found my solution to all the zoning issues. My setup just so happens to be a .25 cal marauder. its ever so accurate, quiet, and hits like an absolute hammer. ive done quite a bit of research before i chose my weapon of choice for predator up to coyote/bobcat. I am still in the process of ammunition testing for grouping. going to bullseye tomorrow for a few hours. apparantly its less of a reluctancy to let you hunt for small game when you are using an 'air rifle' - muhahaha... little do the critters know what a precharged pnuematic rifle is!

anyone live close to fort lewis with a decent place to sight my rig in? the indoor range is too close for my standards. it is very quiet to i dont think you'll have any complaints from neighbors. i would very much appreciate it!!! 50m+ at least. let me know!!! id love to get some trigger time today!!!

Range 15 has a rifle side and a pistol side. Costs 2.50 and they give you a target and e-type silhouette. It's open saturdays and sundays. All you gotta do is wait for them to take a break and walk down and set it up. Is it legal to hunt in WA with an air rifle? Granted you will most likely get away with it unless someone watches you but unless they changed it recently I believe you might be in some trouble. The MP's, local cops, and wdfw all like to drive around the range. Not to mention range control. Somehow meth labs still get left out everywhere there   
If the air rifle is legal then good on ya. Just know the limits on your weapon so there aren't any critters running around on lewis growing metal spikes. Keep us posted on how you do.
