Goodman and Clearwater units
« on: October 19, 2011, 10:06:56 AM »
So i am trying to find and area to hunt for the late archery elk hunt this year and was wondering if the clearwater (615) and Goodman (612) are any good or if someone can atleast point me in the right direction. are these just outside of forks?

Yes.  Good units.  For Goodman there are a lot of gates in the area so be prepared to pack.  You could go scout down the Goodman Mainline Rd.  It's a narrow bridge that goes high above the Bogey, turn off of the LaPush Rd.  There are a few other access places along 101.
For Clearwater, steep and rainy; but elk live there.  That area is a major jungle.  Check the harvest reports, you'll see not tremendous numbers come out like Winston, but jungle bulls are hiding around in there.

I usually hunt either the sol duc and clearwater but have a cow tag for ryderwood this year. I will shoot you a pm but it may go without saying, do not go and share the info with every one and their brother.

Welcome to the jungle. The elk are many but difficult to see.

Smiity,

Looks a lot like you mistook what Rennaissance said.

As I read it, he was offering to share but asking you not to broadcast.   Seems like a reasonable request to me.....

Wow... Glad I waited until this evening to respond/check things out. I will get the pm out soon, but please know I am just being helpful and wanted to know my family and friends in forks were not / are not going to get a whole new group of "web hunters" out competing against them because they read about hot spot on the Internet. Please share a little water if we are in the desert... I promise to ask nicely.  :)

Dan-o .... Thank you for the re-read and not jumping on.  We are all good again and the world is at piece.

Shouldn't worry to much about the hordes of people.  Most will come spend some money locally.  Find out that it is butt kicking country and that they will have to get out of there rig and run for home.
