Porcupine hunting regs

So do I just need a small game license? I know where a whole bunch ate and wanted Tobias my .22 pistol, is that all legal with a SG license

I'm not sure you need a license at all, since they're not a protected species. But if you do, I'm sure the small game has you covered.

They are considered "unclassified" wildlife along with skunks, opossums, mountain beavers, and a bunch of other critters.  There is no season or limits for hunting or trapping them.

Unclassified wildlife can be hunted or trapped year-around and no bag limits are set. Harvest
pressure is low for the majority of these animals, as there is little to no documented harvest for
12 of the 16 species or groups. Those that are harvested or trapped are usually associated humanwildlife
conflict and lethal take is a mitigating tool for property damage or nuisance activities.

What would you do with porcupines? Aside from the kill. Are the quills good for anything? I do think having one mounted would be pretty cool. Anyone find a hedgehog let me know. Gotta teach the wifes chinchilla some manners.

Do you guys really want/need dead porc's? I  have had about 4 shooting opps on them this year and never tken one cause I wanted a deer more badly than baggin a porc but next time I go out i'll keep an eye out. Had 2 within about 10ft of me last year down in the breaks.

If you get one be careful dressing them out.  They have a gland in them that if you break it or cut it.....   I had an uncle that killed one years ago and hit that gland.... O M G!!!!  The whole neighborhood stunk for a couple days.

We pay 15.00/oz at the least for hair. Most we bought last year we paid 20.00+/oz. We're just buying hair though,the quills aren't worth messin with.

Powwowoutfitters, I kill lots of porkies each year. After reading one of your previous posts I pulled the guard hair from the last one I got. I got about half an ounce of 5''+ hair. I figure I'll save it up till I get a good bit, then I'd be happy to sell it to you.
