I grew up in Moses Lake hunting pheasants in the Sugar Beets.  Here are some of the reasons I now just keep on driving further east.   Hope you enjoy the pictures.

The land we hunt over there is all privately owned but is in what they Block Management so it is open to the public.  some of the land you actually drive up to and sign yourself in, others you contact fish and wildlife and they can give you written permission or they will give you the owners phone number and you meet with them to get written permission.  One place we hunt it is a 14,000 acre ranch and they only allow 8 hunters a day on it.  I have never ran into another hunting party on that property which is loaded with pheasants,sharpies,huns and sage grouse.  Montana F & W publishes the the Block management for each year in August so you can have your whole trip planned before you go.

Muzzlebuck:  Poodles were first and foremost a bird dog before they ever went to "foofie dogs" I'll put him up against the best flushers and retrievers out there.  Of course one must be secure with ones self when stepping into the field with him
The picture is a little blurry but here he is with his first turkey this year.  It is legal to hunt turkeys with dogs in Montana

Thanks bluemoon. I'm seriously consider a few trips over there but not sure where to start. Moses lake is a touch over 2 hours from Spokane and Montana is about a half hour less. Out of state license isn't too bad either

It used to be that on the I-5 side of the Scatter Creek pheasant release site there were two older guys who hunted with poodles. They were fun to watch and fun to see all the guys who liked to talk crap watch them get their birds.

The origins of the pudelpointer came from the poodle and these dogs are the ancestors to our more well known German Wire Hairs and German Short Hairs.

I love montana and yes i keep driving out of this state montana has it going on for game management and everybody hunts there not like a bunch of yuppies from seattle lol nice pics
