150 yards with my 270

Opening day of deer we walking down this old road and saw the coyote. He stopped at looked at us then took off down the hill. We went to the top of the hill to see if we could see him down there. About 150 yards down the hill it was just sitting there. Got it with the first shot. First ever kill for the 270.

I sat there for a couple minutes just looking at it through my scope because I wasn't sure if I wanted to shoot at it since it was opening day of deer and risk scaring a deer away. But we hadn't seen much all day so I decided, might as well!

You definitely just saved a few deer. Good job. Take them whenever you can get them.

Nice kill.  Don't worry about gunfire scaring deer.  I've seen them totally ignore gunfire--as long as the bullets aren't zinging past them.

No deer yet.  I still have late buck though. A few weeks after this I did go to Wyoming and got a couple antelope though :)
