30 cal 180 sierra matchking

Looking on sierra website it shows a 175 gr 30 cal matchking bullet got better ballistics then 180 gr matchking bullet, i was under impression that heavier  bullets better ballistics am i wrong?

Depends on a huge amount of stuff. It may be possible that the heavier bullet hit the tipping point between efficiency and initial speed. Could also be their test setups.  :dunno:

Bc is a measure of a bullets resistance to drag. The less drag, the less outside (wind-air) effect. If you start two bullets, one a 220 gr roundnose and the other a 210 gr berger vld at the same speed, the berger will waste it down range. Now give the round nose a 300 fps headstart....the berger will pass it in a couple hundred yards.....all because it is "slicker". The downside to high bc bullets, is they tend to be long and slow twist guns will not always stabilize them.

i understand different bullets type and construction but these are the same type, construction bullets, emails to sierra were not returned  :dunno:
