Sheep Photo Op?
« on: November 23, 2011, 11:03:14 AM »
I am heading to Wenatchee for the Thanksgiving wknd. Would anyone share any tips on a photo opportunity for sheep in the area? At least a general area to get me in the ball park.
PM's accepted ;)

Alternate U.S. 97 from Swakane to Entiat (mostly south of Spencer Canyon).  Drive and glass.

Took me 1/2 day of climbing/hiking but I found some about 100 yrds from the Highway :chuckle: Went up the wrong canyon to start and was too afraid to go down the way I went up. (Steep chit) as I was taking the easy way out I found a nanny and a small one on the cliffs. Got some decent pics then saw a ram, not so good pics. Went back the next am at daylight and found a dozen or so out feeding, but was busted by the nanny and they started heading up hill. Easy for them but not for me. I acted like I was heading out, and when I got out of sight I started climbing. Geez that is some steep terrain. Got up to their level. I couldn't get higher without ropes. Got a few more pics of some rams.
They are all still in RAW form, so I will work on them tonight and try to get a few up.
Now that I know what I am looking for they are not that hard to find. But they do blend in to the surroundings well.
I have an appreciation for their abilities to scoot around those hills. A little harder with 2 feet in hiking boots.

There were about 20 of them standing in the middle of 410 this morning. Right at the rock quarry near mud lake

I'm kinda dissapointed in the pic quality. They looked better in raw. Seemed to lose alot during conversion to JPEG. anyone have any suggestions?

It was a fun exprience to chase these critters. I know folks see them all the time, but I don't so it was a treat.
