Very close timberstalker.   I was trying to stalk a bigger buck (location, I didn't know where the buck was) and ran right into little snapper.  I heard a deer to my left and looked and there was the bigger buck with about 15 does.  I'm either blind or they were bedded in the tall grass waiting for evening.   I was caught in the wide open.  I snapped a couple and the bigger buck and does disappeared and this little snapper stayed put.   I didn't want to bump him as I had no idea where the herd went.  He finally moved on.   I found the heard about 500 yards away in an old flat (homesteaded field).
