Duckman,
When the season ends, join Washington Waterfowl, and hit up a few meetings down there.  There is a chapter in
that area, and they are great at helping people find places to hunt, and people to hunt with.

Sux to say but....this isnt really the website to be asking where to hunt. You actually have to search where to hunt and actually drive there. Asking will get you nowhere on this website.

We dont give up our spots anymore...

Miles on the road scouting. Find birds, Find out who owns the property, Go to them and ask permission. All they can say is yes or no. If no, Just move on to the next spot. If you get a yes  But you should ask again if you want to hunt it again. Most farmers just want to know who is on their property. Don't show up at the farmers house in slacks and dress shoes :chuckle: :dunno:
Sometimes on a second hunt bring them some smoked salmon, vac packed fish, Deer/elk burg also is good. Alot of farmers don't have time to do those things. A way to the farmers fav list. Is through their stomach  :twocents:

Purchase a DeLormes Atlas and Gazateer and research and aquire public lands maps.  There are a lot of places to hunt here.  I've been hunting the westside for 20yrs and I still find new spots every year, I don't even bother trying to find private land.  There are suprisingly few hunters in most of the spots I hunt and some of the best public land hunting in the country.

Be willing to pack decoys, you don't need alot.  Learn how tides work some places an incoming tide is great another the outgoing tide exposes food sources.  Backwaters on rivers can be a hotspot.  Little ponds back in the hills can hold a few ducks that can be snuck up on.  Sheet water on open fields after the heavy rains hit can be great for an early or late hunt.   Be careful, moving water, tides, floating bog combined with waders and a bunch of gear in your pockets can kill you.

Last and most important if there is even a chance that you can't retrieve a bird, lands in too deep of water , heavy cover you can't get through, or lands in moving water that will sweep it away from you, DON'T Shoot It.

AWS
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Yeah I know. I've seen a lot of 'em. It's a case of knowing where they are but not knowing much about hunting them. Maybe I should start another, "I need a (snow goose hunting) mentor."...  :dunno: I'd hate to just march out into a field and not have a clue...

What happened to the days of scouting and looking at public hunt areas.  Reading the regs, where they list them or going to the WDFW site where they list them.  I never would have imagined a day, when some would spend more time behind a computer pleaing for spots vs. going out, scouting watching the birds work and figuring it out.  That is what my generation had to do.  Wow, I would just hire someone to shoot a few ducks for you, so you don't have to go out or get up early.   :bash:

I gotta say that hunting in this state is really intimidating. Especially this side of the state. Back in a lot of your days you grew up knowing what could be done where and you were around as things changed. I've spent more than a couple tanks of gas driving around looking for spots all over to run into no hunting covenants, no shooting covenants, weapon restrictions... etc. Maybe don't post a spot you don't want to see crowded but you could p.m. a guy a spot instead of chest puffing. This effing state has a different rule every ten feet sometimes. The more hunters we get the more united a front we provide. This dang internet machine has also helped unite us so its easier to fight for the things we want. That's 2 soapboxes in one day! New Record!!!  :chuckle:

There really isn't any good spots that don't require a boat to axcess anymore. All the good walk in spots are tied up by gun clubs.

Not sure if driving all over the country scouting for ducks is very feasible anymore either

That's why I get irritated when people complain that some guys ask about spots. I was one of them after driving all over the place. Makes a guy not want to hunt so much when the hardest part initially is finding a spot to hunt.

Getting to the point where I won't help anymore.  You get screwed over to frequently.  It seems everyone is out for there own.  You help someone, then they tell everyone and the spots get ruined.  Or they decide to create a guide service and go and offer the land owner money behind your back and when you go to talk to the owner he says no and you see the guys you helped out hunting it.  If they want to get into duck hunting learn it.  No more holding hands.  I hunt everyday, so why continue to ruin my opportunities because I initially made someone feel good by helping them.  Everyone says you need the hunter to continue the sport.  I ask why, when many of the ones who currently hunt do nothing to help it out.  You don't see them at dike breaching meeting, no shooting re-zoning meeting or getting involved to help out.  I say thank you to the ones that put in lots of there personal time to help those out that just buy a license.  I guess you can get mad when someone chooses not to help, but there is a reason for it.  It might just be another great guy????  That may screw you over.  If you aren't loosing spots to QH fields, then your probably rapidly loosing spots to guides, banded hunts, fowl life, etc.  Reasons to be bitter.

All that you said I can understand. My objection isn't to not giving out a spot. He's already gotten a few, my objection was being the opposite of helpful. I have no problem with people keeping all their spots to themselves. I object to giving the guy a hard time. Being coarse is one thing, being grouchy is another.

.
After you get burnt a few times. You just don't care to help anymore. I will say where there are birds in general. But Im not going to tell you where to hunt them. That is for you to figure out.
I'm hunting with a new guy this year. He has some spots that if birds are around that area I won't say a thing because I respect his spots. Flappy lips has made alot of hunters who are nice guys look like azzholes. Because they have tried to help someone out and got burnt.

Only if you guys knew what you were getting into. Mainly this is someone looking for an easy way to get a hunting spot. If this guy lives in buckley then he should know of some local farmers there. Just wanted to give him some crap. I want everyone out there hunting....and working as hard as I do at it.
