First Turkey

Been out several times but I ended up being able to hunt some private property that was loaded with Rio's. We started out in one area and weren't close enough to get a good shot off so we moved to the trees that they usually roost in and began our wait. After about 15 minutes of waiting about 8 toms flew out of the trees and began strutting. One of the birds that spooked to the trees flew down to fight. They began chasing the one and ended up in the thick where I was sitting about ten feet away but too far to the right to get a clean shot off. They spotted me and turned around but were too carried away in the fight to care and ended up running 20ft in front of me. Luckily there was one straggler so I didn't have to risk taking a shot and nailing more than one bird. After he went down and got a good inspection on him, I ended up with Tom that had a 9 1/2" beard and 3/4" spurs.  This is a hunt that will never be forgotten.
