Elk Hunting Ft. Lewis
« on: December 01, 2011, 11:50:48 AM »
I have read about the Deer Hunting on JBLM (Ft. Lewis) and I was curius about the Elk there.  I know 666 and 652 make up the total base and 666 was open, this year, for Archery, ML, Modern Rifle for Any Deer and Any Elk during both normal and late season.  Did anyone get anything out there, this year?  Would appreciate pics, as well, if available.

I am, alos, open to a Hunting Partner of, perhaps, a group.

Thank you

I've spent quite a bit of time flying over the range and walking around out there but I have yet to see any sign of an elk out there. Good luck!

I have heard a rumor of an elk being taken this year but thats all it is, a rumor.

I have seen sign, track, droppings, beds, and even found a 2 elk hund quarters stacked up on the side of a old road that was left behind. My guess, it was poached and they left in a hurry with the intent to come back, because they were stacked nicly on top of each other. We found them durring MF deer season.

I use to hunt ft Lewis all the time for deer, pheasant Duck & geese.  I have also trained in the area.  The only elk I have seen there are stickers stuck in a back of trucks glass.  Hey if some some says they seen them there they maybe there.  I just have not seen them.  I have walked up on them during deer hunt at Vail tree farm.
