Clarkston question?
« on: December 07, 2011, 10:52:03 PM »
I went over to Clarkston both weekends and hunted the breaks.  We seen hundreds of mule deer in 5 days of hunting.  We ended up killing three deer over there, one mule deer 2x3 and two whitetails a 4x4 and a 3x3.  The weird part to me is we never saw any little whitetail bucks or any whitetail doe's in the breaks.  They have to be there somewhere don't they? So do the doe's not come into the breaks or was it just strange we didn't see any other whitetails?

The whitetails in the area are very localized in a seemingly random pattern; meaning they can be here for no reason or there for no reason but not spread out like the muleys.  You have to drive 20 minutes in any direction to find a majority of whitetails.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

Hell yes I want everyone to come over there and hunt the more competition the better plenty of deer to go around everyone needs to forget about their hunting spots and join us on the snake river for a old fashion shoot out. Its so easy its like shooting fish in a barrel! In reality I am not worried about it! from what I seen over there most people walk the rim and hunt the wheat fields. Most people arnt willing to shoot deer in the places like that. I don't think this post on here is going to affect my hunting.  And you don't have to be a smart ____! Just cause you don't know the answer to my question! And I hope to see you all in Clarkston next year because Clarkston is such a specific spot only a few acres there to hunt ya know!

Calm down my friend! He was just medding with you I'm sure of it!
As for your answer Todd hit right on the head! I might be able to help with a answer if I was more familiar with the exact location you hunted but I'm thinking it was up towards the dam. and if it was I don't think they (whites) get as far down into the breaks as the mulies do in that area, atleast in my experience  :dunno: and I may be wrong but I think you were hunting up hill (could be wrong) this is the way I'm seeing the situation. good luck next year if it's the whites your looking for :) Let me know if it is and I will share some whitey spots for your mulie spots ( so tired of whities  :bash:)
