Colorado help...
« on: December 11, 2011, 10:07:11 PM »
Looking for info on Colorado.
Brother in law and i have 5 points for mule deer and 8 points for elk.

Anybody willing to share some info, in a PM would be great. I know how many people read this without contributing.

We are really looking for mule deer info. As we already have our elk hunt selected. We are going to buy OTC elk tags when we deer hunt. And we are looking at 3rd season rifle hunts.

Thank you,
Chris

I have a buddy that guides down there, are you looking for a guided hunt?  If not, I can see what he would suggest for public land.

Chris,
Been a while since I heard from you..  I got my cow up there this year. The elk were few and far between..

RTSPRING
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

Should have  good hunt with 5 points if you do your homework!   I hunted a 4-5 point unit with a buddy this past year and found a couple 190 class deer in the first two days.  If my buddy could shoot, I could show you a picture.    :chuckle:

I have hunted it three times in < than 5 pt units and always see 180" plus bucks.   Not always killable, but you see them.   We always have harvest opportunities at 160" and 170" class deer in those type units, though.

Here is a little hint - If you are hunting the 3rd season, don't worry about showing up opening day.  It is much more important to be able to hunt through the last two days than to be there for the opener.
