Desert archery
« on: December 11, 2011, 06:35:50 PM »
Spent the past week in the Desert unit. Very frustrating with the dense fog and limited visibility, finished rut, no wind etc etc.... The bigger bucks out there were super wary and skittish. First few days passed on smallish bucks. ( big mistake). Spent today trying to get close to the guy on the left in this photo. Talked to 8 bow hunters today and no one has filled tag that I spoke to. A few hunters spoke to stopped hunting on Saturday.

More on my experiences later ....

That area has to be very tough to archery hunt, especially post rut. Good luck.

when it comes to muleys I would prefer before or after rut..rather stalk a lone bedded buck..than chase a rutting buck with tons of eyes

Hope you had a good time, the weather was awful for hunting this week.  I was praying that the fog would lift for you, looking forward to hearing more about your adventure!
