Before the server crashed. Oregon Buck
« on: December 13, 2011, 10:37:06 AM »
Someone posted this buck and thought it was from Washington. This was actually harvested in Oregon. It was taken by a buddy of mines Sister-in-law near Long Creek. I asked him if she would give me permission to share the pictures and tell here story. So here it is, I cut and pasted her email. Also I included the first part of her email as I thought it was funny.

Will you give this to Chris so he can let that guy correct the posting on a hunting website? I don't know what else to write so I hope it doesn't sound too stupid.

I have lived in Eastern Oregon all my life and hunted off and on for many years but never got the chance to fill my tag. So when I drew a deer tag for 2011 I was determined to finally fill it. I saw several bucks opening morning but they were all on the run and I didn’t feel confident enough to shoot. I was beginning to think I wouldn’t fill my tag with the luck I had that weekend. When I was able to go back out the following weekend I knew this was going to be my last chance. As we pulled up to the area we were going to hunt the buck was standing right there. I was so nervous I would screw it up, but my cousin was there to keep me calm. I took aim and fired. It was amazing and when we approached the buck I had no idea how big he really was. I know I will never get a chance like that again and I will most likely never see a buck like this again. Such a great experience I will never forget.

Underrated, but over priced.  I quit putting in there last year.
That said, that is a fantastic buck.  Congratulations to the young lady.  Good thing she didn't realize how big it was until after she shot, a buck that big can make it hard to concentrate on the shot.

That cut cape makes me cringe though! I've never understood why people do that, let alone on a trophy!

I have known a few taxidermists to rent their clothing and scream at that sort of thing... :chuckle:
