I already have spring Chucks on my mind!
« on: December 16, 2011, 05:31:14 PM »
Now that the big game season is past, I just can't get my Rockchuck addiction out of my head. I'm already picturing the wonderfull slow rolling aerials they perform when hit by monster super magnum cartridges or the stop dead in their track type of hits from well place fast varmint bullets. Spring can't get here fast enough!

Just a few photos from my Chuck exploits.

Watching several through the spotting scope before I tipped them over.

Now we all know that it is not legal to shoot off of your hood in the State of WA, this photo was strictly for the pic! Yes, all or most of the Rockchucks in this picture were seriously injured and or killed, 240 yards.

Rockchuck trip bonus, a coyote with a 260gr Nosler Accubond out of one of my .375 Ultra Magnum.

that does look fun. where do you go to find them chucks and what did the other side of the coyote look like after the 375 hit him?

The chucks are all from Central WA, Douglas county. There was barely enough coyote there to even get that  260gr Accubond started. I shot him at 375 yards, the exit hole was a little bigger than his heart, his complete heart was gone, you could look into the void where it used to be.

This is the exit.

The fact it was 60 degrees day before yesterday doesn't help.   Skunks came back out.

Man that looks likea ton of fun. I've never gone for chucks, though I've always wanted to. I've just never know where to go do it. My buddy and I go down to Burns every Memorial Day weekend to burn up a few thousand rounds on sage rats. Just about the most fun thing a guy can do.

I have always wanted to go chuck hunting. Especially if I can get some range on them. Locally they are always in someone's pasture or next to town. Maybe a hunt on Pdogs this year? Looks like you had a blast.
