Email the House Ag & Nat. Resources Committee Now!! Re: HB 2214
« on: January 07, 2012, 01:01:12 PM »
We have an opportunity to stop the WDFW's Adopted Wolf Plan in its tracks. Please read the text of HB 2214:

 http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/billdocs/2011-12/Pdf/Bills/House%20Bills/2214.pdf:

This bill is open to a public hearing in front of the committee at 12 on Jan 10th, Tuesday, in the John L. O'Brien Building, House Hearing Room A. If the committee approves the bill, it will move to the legislature for a vote. The bill basically says that the WDFW has to publicly justify listing an animal as endangered and/or protected if the federal government has delisted it for protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Attend the hearing if you can and speak on behalf of the bill. In lieu of that, write to the committee members through their websites NOW, and voice your support for the bill.

There are two ways to contact the committee members. One is to email individually through their websites, or email them all at once.

The following legislators are the members of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources with links to their contact page. Go there and send them an email telling them you want this bill to go forward. If the person to whom you're writing isn't in your district, an error message will come up when you enter your address. Select the green option that says "...Send it anyway.":

Eric Pettigrew - http://www.leg.wa.gov/House/Representatives/Pages/pettigrew.aspx
Kevin Van De Wege - http://www.leg.wa.gov/House/Representatives/Pages/vandewege.aspx

If you like, use this email and make sure you put the appropriate name in the address:

Dear Representative (Put Committee member name here),

I am in support of HB 2214, specifically the New Section 3, and feel that our WDFW needs to follow the guidelines set by our federal government when listing animals as endangered or protected in Washington State, or be able to publicly justify with scientific fact their reason(s) for listing and/or protecting an animal not protected under the Endangered Species Act.

If the WDFW is able to list animals, at will, as endangered or protected when these animals have been delisted or do not receive protection under the ESA, the WDFW then has the power to negatively affect individuals, communities, and entire industries by those unnecessary listings. Our citizens, businesses, and fragile economy are at risk from such arbitrary restriction.

Please move this bill to come before our legislature and to a vote of our representatives and senators.

Thank you for your consideration of my views and beliefs.

Most Sincerely.

(Your Name
Your Address
Your Phone #)

You could also use this distribution list to send it to the whole committee with one email:

bill.hinkle@leg.wa.gov; brian.blake@leg.wa.gov; bruce.chandler@leg.wa.gov; derek.stanford@leg.wa.gov; ed.orcutt@leg.wa.gov; eric.pettigrew@leg.wa.gov; hans.dunshee@leg.wa.gov; jt.wilcox@leg.wa.gov; joel.kretz@leg.wa.gov; kevin.vandewege@leg.wa.gov; kristine.lytton@leg.wa.gov; vincent.buys@leg.wa.gov

Change the form of address to "Dear Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Member".

Thanks Killbilly!

If you don't want to look up all those Committee members and mail them seperately, you can copy and paste this comma delineated list and mail them all at once. And by the way, just because they might not be your district Rep. mail them anyway, it is the Committee we are trying to reach.

List:

bill.hinkle@leg.wa.gov; brian.blake@leg.wa.gov; bruce.chandler@leg.wa.gov; derek.stanford@leg.wa.gov; ed.orcutt@leg.wa.gov; eric.pettigrew@leg.wa.gov; hans.dunshee@leg.wa.gov; jt.wilcox@leg.wa.gov; joel.kretz@leg.wa.gov; kevin.vandewege@leg.wa.gov; kristine.lytton@leg.wa.gov; vincent.buys@leg.wa.gov

DONE!

There is no reason that all of the Hunting-washington members shouldn't spend 10 minutes sending these e-mails out.  Just think there may not be hunting in Washington if we have to wait for 15 "confirmed" breeding pairs.

Guys, thanks for the response. If you can think of others who need to see this thread, please send a PM. This legislation makes sense.

You don't have any idea how strongly I agree with your statement. It kinda reminds me of Moses... out of the thousands there that day, he was the only one that said to himself, " I oughta be able to do this"

So, I'm kinda like Moses is what you're saying, Al? I am like 300 years old, so that fits.

thanks for the copy and paste list killbilly, and for bringing this to our attention pianoman....

Dear Legislators,
Living in an already affected area, I am asking you to please pass HB 2214. My neighbor had 2 German Shepherds attacked in his kennel in the back yard by 5 wolves. Fortunately he was able to get his gun and fire it in the air to scare them off. His home is only 2 miles from my home and only 5 miles from Colville.

A ranching family here in Stevens County (Bill & Len McIrvin) are missing 27 head of cattle including 5 bulls and there is wolf scat throughout their area full of cattle hair.

On the Washington Hunting forum we have documented more than 100 wolf sightings in Washington and this next spring with reproduction that number will increase again.  http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,79244.0.html

A lady hunter hunting near Lake Chelan was nearly attacked in Washington last fall. For story and photos see Reply #80: http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,79244.msg1034855.html#msg1034855

Best Regards, Dale

I just got off of the phone with Mark Pigeon (HHC & WWC) He advised me that they are onboard and will attend on Tuesday. He also stated that Jack Fields (Cattlemens Association) and Chip Emmons (SCI Wa./Ore.) are on top of this issue also.

He also stated that there is another piece of legislation in work sponsored by Rep. Mark Hargrove that addresses ESA but possibly on a larger scale in that it addresses Grizzly Bear also. I have been unable to find the Bill so far. If anyone knows of it, please bring it to our attention. Something tells me that the subject has been posted on Hunt-Wa already, but can't find anything.
