Jig hook question
« on: January 17, 2012, 11:13:55 AM »
I am a cheap SOB and I think way too much on being a cheap SOB...  Having said that I came up with another idea on being cheap.

I pick up the following:
1.  some nice quality strong Jig hooks.
2.  some split shot lead weights

3. I squeeze the weight onto the jig hook
4. Use a soldering iron to weld the lead split shot together
5. Use the dip method to paint it

Presto - I have a cheap ass jig with a quality jig hook.

Thoughts?

Could this be a  :bdid:

Just pony up the bucks and buy a lee lead pot and a mold. I can pour 100+ easily in an hour. Totally worth it imo

:yeah: remember all the money that you have to spend in gas, boat, poles etc.....Don't ever go cheep on tackle. There is a big difference between being cheep and smart.
Don't spend your last day on earth saying "I wish I would have"

Just google lee lead pot, and do it molds. Should be able to get set up for about $100. Do yourself a favor and get the molds that don't have the collar.

Kinda off topic but get a heat gun and some powder paint, makes painting them a wiz too.

I have a heat gun already and use that process to paint the heads.
