Mission 251 Youth Hunt- Info requested
« on: July 19, 2008, 10:05:09 PM »
My 10 year-old son and my friend's 12 year old son were both drawn for the Mission F youth hunt (Unit 251, antlerless only, Oct. 11-26). I've never hunted that unit and was wondering if any of you folks had any tips on where I might be able to start scouting, best access points, places to avoid, etc. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Papa

Congratulations, the kids will have a good time.  Since you will probably also be hunting bucks along with the antlerless hunt, I would focus on using roads to access Tronson Ridge or Camas off of highway 97 or go around to Cashmere and go up Mission Creek; road #s 7204, 7200 and 11 respectively.

There will be plenty of opportunities to stop and glass along the way.  You should not have any trouble seeing deer.  Thanks for helping the wdfw to manage the herd by removing some of the excess antlerless animals.

We'll be up there too. Dad drew the dissabled any deer tag for the same area. We'll try for a buck, but meat in the freezer is the best plan!!

Good luck come Oct.

Thanks for the info. We'll run up that way a few times in the next couple months and give it a good look.
