Leopold Gold Ring 10x42 HD binoculars
« on: July 23, 2008, 08:04:48 AM »
Anyone have a pair of "Leopold Gold Ring 10X42 HD" Binoculars. I looked at some in the store and thought they were pretty good. They cost a little over 800 bucks with tax.

The wife and I were in Cabela's a couple of weeks ago. She has been needing a better pair of bino's for a while. We looked at the hd's, a pair of the alaska guide model's,a pair of the green ring leo's and the euro's. I told her to pick the ones she wanted. Out of those four glasses she picked the euro's. The hd's felt very big and bulky to me. The alaskas and the green ring leo's felt really comfy to hold onto but they were not the same clarity of glass that the hd's and the euro's had. I think that the euro's are a better glass for the same $.

Thanks Bookworm. I looked at the green ring's and also the Nikon's and I agree i could see that the HD's wer clearer. Didn't look at the Euro's. Not sure if they had any at Sportco. I'll have to go back and check.

The Cableas Euro's I believe are only sold at Cabelas but the Meopta Meostar is exactly the same binocular.  If you aren't shopping at Cabelas then the Meostar (very nice bino's by the way) is what you'll want to look through for a comparison.

Looked pretty nice to me. Don't compare to Swaro ELs, but are less than half the cost. One glass I still haven't looked through, but want to, is Vortex. Heard lots of good things about them.

If you go to Cabela's don't forget to check out the bargain cave, I went there intending to buy a pair of euro's but ended up spending $300 more on a pair of swarovskis.  Couldn't believe they were $700 off in the bargain cave. :twocents:
