compact spotter review
« on: February 18, 2012, 12:03:59 PM »
I stumbled upon this review of compact spotting scopes. It's pretty good. It helped me make my choice.

It also helped me make my decision as well. I was set on the leupy until I saw the review on the minox. It might of helped that cameraland had a display model MD50 for $180 at the time  :chuckle:  :IBCOOL:
Which one did you go with? I wish I could of afforded the ED50 but the MD50 seemed like a good compromise.

Here's an old thread I started here with a bunch of pictures of my Minox MD50.  Overall, I'm pleased with the scope.  It does what I need it to do, and I believe it is a high value compact spotter.

Found a good deal on an ED50 and picked it up, problem is it only has the 16x digiscope eyepiece.  Now I need to find a 13x30 or the 27x WA eyepiece.  I traveled up and down I5 looking at them and comparing other scopes, definitely the tops for a 50mm spotter.  I never did look at the minox however!  Now (after the fact) I wish I could take a peak.

I was set on the leupy as well. But after reading Miles review and this review I am dead set on getting the Minox.  Good write up miles.

Ive read a few birders reviews of the Pentax PF-EDII 65mm. Most love it to death but I don't hear of many hunters discussing them. Sure wish someone would post a write up. Or you can just buy me one and.I'll write a really nice review

No big deal.  I just linked my old thread so people could see the pictures I took of mine.  I know when someone is considering compact spotters is nice to have some actual pictures with objects for size comparison.

Yeah those were nice. Especially the one next to the Root Beer 20oz bottle. Really put that into perspective.
