Eberlestock J104/J107 Users....

Hello All,
Just like many of you I am sure, I am putting together my list of items that I need to pick up before this years hunting season. Up until now, I have used the Cabelas Elite Scout pack on my hunts and it has done everything I have needed it to do. But, that is only because I have been unsuccessful in bagging an animal. So, because I am superstitious, it is time to increase the quality of my pack. I WILL need to pack something off the mountain this year!
Just a few questions for anyone who uses the Eberlestock packs. I am a shorter guy, 5'9", 5'10" when talking to the ladies, and am wondering if one or the other (J104 or J107) would be better suited for me. And, what accessories would you recommend to go along with it?
Once that purchase is complete, it is on to new camo, new rangefinder, and possibly new tripod...We'll see how far the piggy bank gets me.
Thanks in advance,
Gary

I've been using the J104 for 3 years now and I am very happy with the performance. I've used it for day hunts, bivy hunts and backpacking. I love the versatility, it only take a few seconds and you're ready to pack meat. I've packed 3 deer and 2 elk and it performed great, this pack will pack as much meat as you want to put in it.
I also have the spike duffle for trips where I need to pack in additional gear, it works good, the only down fall is it puts the weight a little to far away from your back. It's pretty nice to un-zip the duffle when you reach your spike camp and you're ready go hunting. The new packs have a nice improvement over the older J104's like mine, they have compression straps that compress the built in scabbard bringing the load about 2" closer to your back if you're packing heavy loads.
I would highly recommend this pack, I would also recommend the Nimrod system that's built in Cashmere, my hunting partners use these with great success.

All Sportsman's carry them and Cabela's carries the J107. You will probably have to go to the Eberlestock web site to pick up any accesories.

If you are still in the market for a J104, I am thinking about selling mine. I carried it for a couple of days at the most and don't need it any longer.

Oldguy - I'm interested in your pack. I tried sending you a PM, but I don't know if it went through.

I picked up a J104 for my dall sheep hunt last August. It worked well. On the way out, I had that pack loaded with close to a 100 lbs, and it held up great.
The best thing was I bought it out of the Cabelas bargain cave for 99 bones 2 years ago ! lol
