What's it worth? Savage .243
« on: February 11, 2012, 01:11:25 PM »
Just wondering what would be a fair price for a Savage .243? The guns about 8 yrs old, shot maybe 4 or 5 boxes of ammo, cheap black synthetic stock with scope combo, heavy trigger pull (not an AccuTrigger), it just sits in the old gun cabinet. I've never sold a gun, they're like my kids - even if I'm not getting along with 'em they still always have a home. Told my friend he can use it anytime he wants, but he wants to buy it for some reason, so I'm just curious what's a fair price range?

I would say depending on model and condition, it'd only be worth about $300 at the most.  You can pic them up at Bi Mart for between $279 and $299

Not 100% sure because I don't have the rifle now, but I think it's a model 10.  I can't remember what I paid for it either, it was a rifle scope/combo from WalMart or BiMart for my youngest son who then started archery and the gun pretty much just sits.

If it's a model 10 without an accutrigger I wouldn't pay more than $250 for it used and I wouldn't consider that a smokin deal. I think I bought one off of someone on here for $250 and sold it to someone else on here for $200 but it had a homebrew camo paint job on it which I took as detracting from the value.

I think 250 may even be a stretch.   :twocents:

Picked up a .243 Remington scope/combo witha box of ammo for about $320 @ Bi-Mart a couple years ago.

If he is a good friend, just find something worth trading it for, or about $250 ball park.

Thanks for the help guys, I don't get to town very often, so I'll pass on the info about new gun costs to my friend and see if he wants to buy new or my old one still.  Thanks again!

I bought the same basic model, used unfired but perfect shape, for $300 + tax at a local shop. Mine was a 308 though.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.
