Kenai Halibut Charter
« on: February 14, 2012, 07:38:18 PM »
I am headed up to AK this fall for a moose hunt and we are going to go a few days early and want to get a halibut trip in, the end of August.  Does anyone know of a good/quality halibut guide up there.  I would prefer to not get on a boat that loads the deck with people.  We will have four in our party, so maybe a few more.  I know the fishing spots up there will most likely be the Deep Creek or Homer area.  We will be staying at my buddies sister's place in Soldotna.  Any guides that you have used or know of would be appreciated.  Thanks

Wild Rose charters dose a good job, and they drop in at Deep Creek. I dont think he goes over 4 per trip.

Good luck on the Moose hunt/fishing trip!
Paddle faster!!,,,,I hear banjo's!!!!

Do a search for Kevin Zimmerman, Kevin's King Salmon Guide Service who is also known as Butt Chasers Charters. One of the best up there, they are out of Deep Creek too.

I looked up Kevin Zimmerman, Kevin's King Salmon Guide service, and Butt chasers and didn't see his name on any of them.  I did find a blog about him, but it didn't say anything about his fishing charter.  Do you have his number or anything like that?

Here is the number I found, this is the house in Renton  (425) 226-1848. If you have Facebook look him up there by name and you will be able to contact him maybe. I have known Kevin, since we were kids fishing the Cowlitz back in the 70's. He is top notch and is rated as one of the best for Hailbut out of Deep Creek. There are plenty of pictures on his Facebook site too.

My brother and I fished with Frank Sanders of Alaska Trophy Outfitters a couple of years ago. He was an excellent captain. He only fishes 5 to 6 at a time on his boat, but could accomodate more and he keeps you entertained the whole time and has some great stories. All fish landed were between 50 and 125 lbs.
He puts is at Deep Creek in Ninilchk.

You can contact him at:
Alaska Trophy Outfitters
PO Box 4135
Soldotna AK 99669
907-252-7413

If you do contact him tell him Bob and Dan say "Howdy".
