Archery Thieves Caught Today in WA
« on: February 24, 2012, 08:24:05 PM »
A "very honest" person from a neighboring state contacted me concerning a post I put on Archerytalk.com a couple weeks ago informing me about some of the stolen bows from GNWA.
Long story short: The Pierce Co Sherriff's Dept put a sting operation together with this honest person's assistance and pulled the noose tight today on a couple local 21 yr old thieves.
11 bows have been recovered with 7 still outstanding so your help in locating the 'still missing' bows would be appreciated. We're hoping the thieves, while in custody, will uncover the whereabouts of the remaining bows.
Some of the stolen camo clothing was also recovered today.
This is great news for Doug at Great Northwest Archery. A small business on S Hill in Puyallup, WA.
It's also great news for the rest of us as two punks are off the street for a while and I'm sure they're going to pay thru the nose for their actions.
A single bow was also returned a couple weeks ago that was found at the base of a fence off Shaw Rd. The person that returned this bow was also an honest person and if you're reading this, it's a pleasure to have honest people like you living in our neighborhood.
I want to extend a huge Thank You to this particular "Honest Person" from a neighboring state on behalf of Doug at GNWA. We know that this endeavor wasn't free for you but like you told me on the phone, now you can sleep at night.

I got the email last night.  It was good to hear.  I sure hope that the process doesn't shaft Doug of his gear while they prosecute.  I imagine this was hard emotionally and financially for him.  Darn, business is hard enough.

Good work Sakoshooter and everyone else involved in getting the word out. The internet is a powerful tool.

I asked Doug about that on Saturday, sounds like he is going to get it back this week. They have pictures and serial numbers to match for evidence. The two people  caught are going to be facing felony charges I would imagine.

Outstanding!
I'd just like to remind everybody that it's about the hunting, not just the killing. In other words, it's about the total experience, the sport itself and the challenge involved. Bowhunting, done right, is a justifiable and honorable pursuit. Done for the wrong reasons, simply chalking up kills and seeking personal glory, it's taking away rather than giving back to a principled way of life that has to be experienced to be understood. I have not been able to get there.  It as been at least a month since I was in the shop, maybe more cause it was the week before the theft.  I'm going to try for next Saturday.  Hope to walk out with a bow for my son and then put one on hold for me.

Does that mean we have two new targets to shoot at?  :dunno:

Not to kill, but to make good shots that cause the most pain.

Sounds like a proper thing to do to thieves.

Saves our tax money and gives us something to shoot at; all in one.

Can one tell I don't like thieves?  :dunno:
