Its located across hwy 101 to the south from Safeway east of town by PA Power in the old gun shop building. I just returned from there and the guys in there were really nice and I walked out with a great deal. He is just starting up the shop so stop in and have a look !!!

Good to hear. Last time I was in Swains it seemed like their prices were rising fast. I haven't been there for over a year since I moved over to the NE.
I hope they can make a go of it.

I long for the days of "Boulevard Herring" in P.A. where old Gordy had that tackle shop in his garage. Lots of great deals especially on bait and jigs and he used to sell spools of Izorline cheaper then you could buy it in the Izorline booth at the sportsmans show. Those were the days and oh if the fishing could be anything now like it was then. Lots and Lots of great fishin B.S. with Gordy too....he was always in the local loop of what was going on and where to go. I miss those days................Les

I was in Swain's a few months ago and wasn't impressed by their prices or selection.  I remember them having better stuff many moons ago.  I will have to check out the new place the next time I blow through.

The guy there said he plans on having the place bursting at the seams with tackle and great deals by some time in April so for now its just getting everything together but I really hope he is able to get it going. I think I heard him say he was a guide somewhere but I didn't catch that part.

Sweet!  I don't get up there very often but I will make it a point to visit.  I prefer to do my outdoor gear shopping at smaller local shops.  I found a new (new to me) fly shop in Lacey today that I will be giving my business to instead of Cabela's or Whoresale Sports.  I hope the guy in PA can make a good go of it!

I'll have to pop in there.  Did they mostly have salt or fresh gear?  The building (if it is the one I'm thinking of) used to have guns and coffee.  I went in there once and bought a gun faster than a group of Californians could buy their coffee.  They were all shocked and kept questioning the owner about how there was 'no way' it could or should be legal for me to have been able to buy that gun that quickly.
I wonder if it could be the guy in Carlsborg that has the hidden tackle shop, he or his nephew are occasionally guides?

Not sure who they are (i think he said his name was Jerry) but they are really nice, at least he was to me. He was literally just setting stuff up so its really not extremely organized yet but there are things put on the shelves and poles lining up on the walls, and shelving here and there but he said to me to spread the word cause he wants to get everyone to know he is there and willing to deal. I told him I'll pass it on.

It was a mix of freshwater, steelhead, salmon, bottom fish, halibut, gear and even shellfish from what I remember so yeah pop in and say hi I guess. He said next week he was going to a trade show so I don't remember what day but other days he said he would be there from 9am to 7pm. and yep your right the gun/coffee shop !!

P.S. Bring cash for what you want, his card machine isn't working just yet  ;)

There is no name that I can see just yet, the guys name is Jerry that I talked to it just looks like a brown building no sign or anything yet, I'll see if I can post a google pic of it so its easy to find !!

Here you go, its directly south of the Safeway on 101 as you enter Port Angeles, The little store that says "Hi Caliber Guns" that is no longer a gun store its now a tackle shop.

This pic is north up !!

The Fly Fisher on Pacific just past the round a bout in Lacey west of Carpenter.  The guy has everything  and at reasonable prices and sell chenille in bulk.

Thanks Robo, It migh be a half a year before I get back up there but I will check it out when I do.  I'm sure they will be in full swing by then.
