A new 2012 PSE DS EVO is headed my way in the next few weeks. I have a drop away rest to use but need a new sight. Haven't purchased one in quite some time so was hoping to get some advice from ya'll. I am not spending more than $150 on a sight but would like quality, good light and easy adjustment.

Any suggestions???

I have been shooting trophy ridge sights for many years. They are rock solid and easy to adjust. They are super bright as well

easiest sight I've ever had to sight in. built rock solid too, protected pin filaments for a brush buster like me, great bell design on sight housing.

....most accurate sight and fine tune adjustments, Made In USA.

I looked up the Axcel and would really like to get one but I am stuck getting someting from Cabelas where I have the points to get one. They do not have the Axcel

I was looking at the Spot Hog's and the Trophy Ridge ones there.

I would go with a Spot Hogg over the Trophy Ridge. Bomb proof sights for the backcountry. I have a Montana Black Gold myself.

Cabelas will do special orders for items they don't have listed in their catalogs. I once special ordered an Eberlestock backpack through Cabelas because I had a gift card I wanted to use, and Cabelas did not have Eberlestock packs. There is no extra cost and I know at least in my case, the price was the same as it would have been anywhere else.

Have you run both sights? I have and as much as I like the guys at spot hogg. I have had 2 out of 3 of there sites break "in the back country" Mainly from crawling threw thick brush. A stick or something gets inside the sight housing and snaps one or a couple of those nice little fiber optic cables. I own 9 different sights right now and the only one that I have not had fail yet is the my trophy ridge stuff. So I was wondering if this was just based on ideas or if you have had both in the field? Just wondering why you would think spot hogg over trophy ridge. I always like to hear feed back. If you have used them and think that spot hogg is better or have had trophy ridge problems. I would love to hear about it. I can help with that problem by giving feedback to the design team at the company

Cabelas does have the Axcel it is just listed under TRU Ball. It is an awesome sight.

I have had fibers break on my trophy ridge and seen them broke on a spot hogg, spot hogg now offers the armor pins also.

What model? I shoot the vertical pins. They are almost impossible to break. Trust me I know from use

the spot hogg sites have a lot more exposed stuff. If they are the armor model I am sure it would more then 150

Axcel all the way, shot Spot Hogg for a long time and like someone else sais they brake. Axcels fibers are all inclosed so you cant brake one off.

As well with the Axcel sight you can order any pin color you would like to have, I have all green on my target sight.

Yeah I bought one as soon as they came out. I thought I would really like it but I could not get use to shooting the oval sight housing and the gap between the top 4 and bottom 4. It works for some people but I like my five pin sights better. They are not doing the crazy 8 anymore. I had mine for a few months and sold it and got another 5 pin TR sight. Was it the outside fiber optic on the first outside pins?

I shoot the montana black gold 7 pin on one bow and the axis on the other both are well protected sights.
both easy to adjust..good luck in your hunt for a new sight

I shoot a hogg and my old man has the armortech. When I replace mine I wont look at anything but the armortech.

So I'm looking at the Trophy Ridge Hitman 5 pin or the Armortech HD 5 pin. The later being $70 more then the TR

The TR looks like it would work just fine but what I do not like is the plastic being held on the frame by a screw. I have seen in the past where the plastic weekens and then cracks under the screw pressure.

The Armortech does not have this, the plastic is housed within the frame. And the fibers are all internal which is nice.

Hard decision due to the price difference

There should not be any problems with the trophy Ridge stuff there is 1000's of those sites out there. If something goes wrong they would fix it. I would not count on anything going wrong

Quality = $$$$$ Would you by a optics because of the price. But with that said the trophy ridge is a nice sight.

Yeah they have sights from 50 to 200. Its just about what fits each person. I just got all my new gear for 2012 and I am running the vertical pins like always. Mine is the micro alpha v5.

OK...Went with the Armortech because Cabelas had it for 10 bucks off plus 20 more for orders over 150. So I got it for 169 and they gave me free shipping

Sorry Carpsniperg, I did like the Hitman sight but was having a hard time getting past the gap between the front and the back of the site. The thick brush here in WA seems to get in everything on a bow and just didn't want to take the chance with that. If it was solid from front to back I would have gone with that one.

I am trying to figure out what spot you are talking about on the site. Is there anyway you can copy a picture and open it in paint and mark the area you are talking about. Since I staff for them I have a direct line into the company and can provide feed back to make things better for the people that think things might be a problem and eliminate any worry that might be had.

Lets see if this works...You can see the gap between the front and rear of the site housing. I supose it's to let more light on the fibers but I think it might let to many twigs in between that could hit the pins. Otherwise I love the site.

Yes, I believe it would protect the pins more in heavy brush. You know how little twigs find their way into things
