Rufus permit?

We are going to go bank fishin on Rufus first time do I need a coleville permit?

I heard that if I am at the lower net pens we do not need a permit does anyone know if this is true. I have been trying to figure out where to buy the permit and had no luck. Anyone know the scoop??

Here you go Brother man. I always take a boat so Im know expert on this matter. But a permit is cheap and then there are No worries.

LICENSE PROVISION

All non-members on the Colville Indian Reservation MUST
have in their possession a valid Colville Indian Reservation
fishing permit to fish in all waters open to non-members on the
Colville Indian Reservation. In addition: 1) A Colville Indian
Reservation Fishing Permit shall be required when fishing
from the reservation shoreline (see general definitions, page
4) of the following boundary waters: Crawfish Lake, Lake
Pateros (Wells Pool), Washburn Pond and the Okanogan
River; 2) When fishing Rufus Woods Reservoir from a boat
or at one of the Designated Fishing Areas, either a Tribal
Permit or State License shall be acceptable. A Tribal Permit
is required when fishing from the north shore (Okanogan
County side) on Colville Reservation lands other than the
Designated Fishing Areas. 3) When fishing Lake Roosevelt,
non-member fishermen that traverse the Colville Indian
Reservation to obtain fishing access on the west shore of
Lake Roosevelt, are also required to possess a Colville
Indian Reservation Fishing Permit; 4) For purposes of this
fishing license provision, Grand Coulee Dam structure will
not be considered as reservation shoreline; 5) For state
licensing requirements on boundary waters, please contact

You need a permit for the lower pens if you are fishing from shore .... You can get your licenses at Walmart in Omak ...

The lower net pens are a Designated Fishing Area and you can fish from shore there with either a WA state fishing license or a Colville permit.

We were there last weekend in the boat and limited Sat and Sun down by the State Park-never made it up to the pens. Biggest fish was 7#, smallest just under 2. Remember that scent is considered bait, so any fish caught with a scented lure or bait must be kept. Single barbless hook if you are going to C&R. The gamies were on the water and they were checking and ticketing.  We were using an old Dardevle with a single hook and released 6-7 12"-16" each before we switched to worm harnesses and more weight to catch bigger ones. It was a blast!

Remember there are three sets of nets pens so some peoples definition of "lower netpens" maybe different.  The Middle set of net pens are where the designated area where wither license is good from shore.

There is public land on Douglas County side. Army Corp of Engineers have set aside lands for public use. They are well posted and offer good fishing from shore.

We fished the Douglas county side down by the dam. Skunked along with all the other people there, damn.
