Callin.... E-caller vs Handcall
« on: March 20, 2012, 07:15:31 PM »
Whats the first thing you reach for when you call them yotes in. E-caller or Hand call? I know the different situation call for different techniques, but in your honey pot spot what do you use? Also what area? East or West?

I start with a hand call: Howler usually gets a reply if they are there.  E-caller is good for a longer stand, and getting the sneaky ones to get curious enough to come and look.  Dryside.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

E-caller when the cover is tight and there is a good chance that I will not see the critter over 100 yrds.  E-caller if I'm hunting open country that I cant have a hiddden shooting place.  Open call if the stand is really good.

The e-caller and decoy gives me a better opertunity to kill a coyote when the stand is less than ideal.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

A lot of times I will get one of my quiet hand calls out and do some soft calling in case something is close. Other times I will just use a hand call howler when I start a stand.

E-caller.  i have used both but now i am exclusively using an e-caller.  i like the versatility and number of sounds.  sometimes it is tough to know what sound they want to hear from day to day
