Grouse with the bow

How many folks hunt grouse with a trad bow?

I hear them suckers all the time but I can never figure out how I would get them out of the high trees. Got any suggestions other than using a gun or rock  :dunno:

Shot dozens with my compound.   Flu Flu or Judo points work well.  Just use a crap arrow in your quiver.
Introduce someone new to hunting this year.

Yeah that's what pacyew said. I guess there is no neat trick for getting them to come down into range  then?

Unfortunately not that I know of... I think I have left more eastman Aluminum out in the field than can be found in a 737.  Fortunately, they were always practice arrows.

The Jedi mind trick doesn't seem to work either
 ;)

Well I suppose that if I am sitting around camp long enough then I can have time to wait for them to get lazy or dumb :D

I've killed quite a few with my compound while elk and deer hunting. Most were on the ground while walking up trails or heading through the brush.  One day i shot two out of a group of five.  The funny thing was some brush pickers were throwing rocks at them.  I walked up and they let me shoot them. Probably could of shot one more for my limit but I only had five arrows in my quiver.

I use a SMG made by G-5.....or a cheap Judo point. I usually carry an old practice arrow or two in my quiver with a SMG attached. I usually find the grouse on the ground. You can usually sneak within 30 yards or so if you see them first. Makes for an easier shot. Never shoot at a bird in a tree. You will always loose your arrow and you have no idea what lies beyond your target.
