How pathetic! Good thing I have the fortune of knowing how difficult my hike was... If he gets in there even for a scouting trip he's doing pretty well. Too bad I'll still beat him to the buck. I kind of feel bad for guys like that... "Aww, honey... you need a woman to do your scouting for you? Excuse my french but do I have more lady-balls than you?"
I am sure I am over reacting, That just makes me mad. Gut wrenching almost. I know it happens. I am sure I am oversensitive as I just worked like 36 hours straight but.......its the biggest threat to this site.......leaches, worms, maggots, lurkers. People with no integrity. Makes me want to pull every pic I have ever posted. Sharing with friends is what I like to do. I should know the world is full of parasites. Plagarizing someone elses hard work. Welfare cases. No better than a meth maggot stealing someones sterling silver picture frame to try to achieve that next high.
Great Pictures everyone. I have a story relating to this thread. I was approached by a guy at the gym this morning (I don’t know him real well, but he knows I am on the site quite often and hunt the backcountry, he also commented on the post I made a few days ago in the “high hunt permit” thread). He asked if I had seen the Backcountry Trophies post. I informed him that I had looked at it. He then goes on to tell me that he found where Hirshey killed her buck at and where 75johndeere took his camp picture from. He then went on to tell me that he was going to work on thunt’s photo tonight.I didn’t believe him and asked him where they were at. After a little while he reluctantly told me exactly where both pictures were taken (I already knew where these photos were taken at). Him and his buddies are already planning scouting trips to these locations this summer. I just want to caution people that post pictures with scenery in the background that there are people that are willing take your spot. It was evident after talking with him and asking why he would want to “steal” someone’s spot he is in it for the instant gratification of shooting a buck. He isn’t the type that cares about the hard work and effort that goes into finding these spots (most of us find this the fun part).Just a caution when posting pictures of your favorite spots. It really is unfortunate. Bye the way I hope he reads this post and reconsiders.
It's unfortunate this type of behavior exists, although it's nothing new. I witnessed the same thing in a very good deer hunting locale in MT about 13 years ago. A guy put an article in Eastman's with a very prominent landmark in the background, and within a couple of years hunting pressure there went up dramatically.It's a shame that we have to be careful what photos we share. Never have landmarks in the background, ever. I rarely ever share scenery shots on the internet, unless I just don't care about someone else knowing where it is.Why some people behave this way is beyond me. I don't hunt for competition with others. The last thing I want to do is race someone to the top of the mountain.
This is an awesome topic with some great photos. Thanks JPhelps for posting your comments. Let's all consider that a positive learning experience, I hope everyone remembers to crop out distinguishable landmarks from their photos.Hirshey, it's obvious to me the guy must not be much of a hunter if he has to go online trying to identify your spots to go hunting. My best guess is that even if he is on the same mountain as you, that you will probably spot any deer first and be headed out the trail with another fine trophy while that guy is still trying to spot deer. There's a lot more to being a successful hunter than finding out where someone's honey hole is at, I am guessing the guy must not possess the skills to find deer consistently if he is searching for others hunting spots.
