275 grain barnes expander mz in .54 cal.  Remington - 1 - 28 I believe.  I bought the 325 grain of the same bullet, but haven't had a chance to shoot them yet

I've been using a percussion .54 Great Plains.  I think the twist is 1:48.  430 gr TC maxi-ball super penetrators, using 95 gr Pyrodex with a felt seal.  Primer is CCI #11 mag.

I am using a Lehigh/Bloodline .458-300 grain bullet in .457-.458/50 cal sabot.  I am shooting a Knight DISC or MK 85 with 120 grains of T7-2f/3f, of course 100 grains is just effective to 150 yards...

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

-2 years ago I took my elk at 190 rangefinder yards with a stump for a steady rest. This last year I took my elk at 50yds off hand. I passed a dandy bull at around 120yds off hand. From what Ive learned you need to take the same shot as you would with a bow& arrow, Broadside or slightly quartering away. Muzzys just dont have the knockdown power of a rifle.. Its Just like archery, just your range is extended out to about 150yds. I practice to 200yds.

Sabotloader, that 300 bloodline looks interesting. How does it group? I've tried a few different bullets and might try that in a .52 sabot. How much for 20?

I shoot that bullet from my 52 with excellent results.  They are expensive right up there with the Barnes and Nosler Partitions.  They also do come with the correct sabot.  I think they are $20+

Might look through these threads...

The big thing you have to remember, and this very hard for most of us, but the Lehigh/Bloodline is not a typical exanding bullet.  You migh read through this thread where a dad and son did some experimenting... The explanation of the Lehigh/Bloodline is on the second page.

Some target work

This is a 200 yard target shot by a Knight employee with Knight Mountaineer shooting a .452-250 gr Bloodline.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
