question on RCBS Gold metal match resizing dies
« on: March 26, 2012, 08:43:29 PM »
I picked up my first set of RCBS gold metal match dies in 338 Lapua mag- mainly I was looking for the seater with the micrometer.

The full length die however takes bushings (sold separately of course).  I need to pick up a couple bushings but I am not sure what size to get.

The bullet diameter is of course .338.  the inside neck would be slightly under that diameter for tension to hold the bullet.  However, the resizing die (not the expander button) is sizing the outside of the neck case which I am measuring at about .362 or so with unsized factory brass.

So my question is, what size does the bushing actually map to?  i.e. if I buy a bushing that is .338, will that size the outside of the neck to .338 (which of course would be way too small)?

I have Redding bushing dies and I mic'd the outside diameter of a loaded round and ordered that size bushing.

That's kinda what I thought, but I was not sure.

Thanks!
