Nisqually update?
« on: May 05, 2012, 12:15:34 PM »
I've been off this forum for a while.  How is Nisqually duck hunting being impacted by the new dike and Thurston country no shooting ordinance kerfuffle?   I thought about hunting it this fall for the first time, but don't know if it's still allowed.

The no shooting ordinance was shot down, so that won't impact Nisqually.  I am curious find out about the dike situation though.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

hunting is definitely still allowed.  i didn't hunt it before the dikes got breached, but i have hunted it the past couple years.  i don't kill a ton of mallards there(they are around though), but there are huge numbers of wigeon and teal, as well as lots of pintails.  getting birds to commit to the dekes is the biggest issue, being that you get all the public land skybusters coming out of the woodwork :chuckle:
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Since the dikes were removed the waterfowl hunting has gone to hell. I used to kill 100+ ducks a season now less that a quarter of that! I look elsewhere to waterfowl hunt now.
