I have been shooting and hunting with the Easton Axis 400s for two years now and love them. I was recently given a dozen bare shaft Carbon Express Mayhem Hunter 340s. At first glance, I noticed the CX shafts were noticeable larger in diameter than my Eastons. When I looked at the specifications for each arrow, they are very comparable.
Axis:
Straightness: ± .003"
Weight tolerance: ± 2.0 grains
Shaft Weight: 9.8gpi
Mayhem Hunter:
Straightness: ± 0.0035"
Weight tolerance: ± 1.0 grains
Shaft Weight: 9.8gpi
Spine: 0.347" (could not find this data for the Axis arrows)
Diameter: 0.303" (could not find this data for the Axis arrows)
Spine selection tolerance: ± 0.0025" (could not find this data for the Axis arrows)
All this being said, does the larger diameter make a difference? What experiences and recommendations are out there?
I am shooting a 06' Hoyt Powertec / 28" draw / 63lb draw weight
Thanks
