When I was a freshman in high school I must have been watching to many action movies.  I used one hand (extended from the body) to fire a shot out of the 12 gauge just like in the movies.   :bdid:

My dad was helping my uncle pack a deer out of a canyon on private property.  Half way up my uncle decides to get the 3 wheeler and throw the buck on the back.  My dad was walking behind when all of the sudden the 3 wheeler with my uncle on it starts to go over backwards.  To this day dad doesn't know why he did it, well he grabs the back of the 3 wheeler and lifts up on it hoping to drop the nose down.  His knee couldn't handle the weight and pressure, pop....completely blows his knee out.  The surgeon  had to take out his whole ACL.

Funny my dad always came back to camp with no sock on one foot.

usually keep a judo tipped arrow in my quiver for grouse, got all lined out on a fat doe one season at 20yds let the shot go she ducked it go retrieve my arrow and realize i just flung a judo at her.

bought 12ga shells for a 20ga shotgun, didnt realize my mistake until we were somewhere outside of walla walla at the land we were going to hunt pheasants on, luckily my buddy's cousin had a handfull of 20ga rolling around the back seat of his truck.

tried to high jump a downed tree like NHL players jump the boards from the bench, caught a toe, not only did i face plant into the dirt but in the process i let go of my shotty and it proceeded to land butt pad first on my ear, my hunting buddy about peed himself laughing

Had a friend who was helping us pack out three elk we'd gotten opening day up at Quinault in the late 70's. He wasn't very big but was pretty wiry. We were about 2 miles up one of the steep canyons off the South Shore Rd.  There were a dozen of us packing as we were trying to get it all out in one trip. The elk were in three slightly different locations so we were spread out a bit and as a quarter was put on a pack board, whoever was taking it would get on the trail, so that spread us out a little more. Well Ronnie was packing a hind quarter and when he got to the creek crossing he decided he needed a drink. As there was nobody there to help him get his pack off and on he decided he'd get a drink with the pack on his back. He gets down on his hands and knees and put his head down to drink and the pack slid up over his shoulders and head and his arms gave out and his head plunged into the creek with the hind quarter holding him down. He would have drowned right there as he was pinned, but lucky for him, the next guy got to the creek crossing right then and yanked him out. He said he tried, but there was no way he was getting out by himself.

Had another friend who's dad hunted with us at Quinault go into one of those steep old canyons a couple years ago and he got a nice 4x4. It's a real hard place to get into and out of now because of the big blow 4 years ago. There are big old growth trees down everywhere in that canyon.  Even before that happened, My great uncle nicknamed it A-hole Canyon, because only an A-hole would shoot an elk there and expect people to come help pack it out. There's a cliff face you have to get over to get in there and the only way is up a rock face that a good sized stream comes down. It's just wide enough on the trail for a guy to climb up and down with a pack on but it's really steep and you need all your hands and feet free to hold on. Well my friend got to the rock face and was waiting for his buddies who were trying to make it over the blow down. He had the head on his pack and maybe some of the meat and he was standing close to the edge when he lost his balance and over he went falling and sliding and falling some more. He actually came out of it pretty lucky. He was scraped and had a gouge from one of the tines and might have cracked a rib and a couple teeth, but nothing serious thankfully.

Most all boat owners leave the plug out at least once in their boating career I have too, but the worst was one summer running out to check crab pots by myself and got in a hurry. Hooked the boat to the truck tossed in a cooler for crab and blazed out to the boat ramp. Arrived to ramp put the boat in the water parked the truck made sure to get punch card etc climbed over the bow and shoved off the beach. Reached down to start the boat and something very important was missing Yup the key! After a few choice words and drifting further form beach aha I thought the spare in the dry box get under bow and guess what no dry box it is still in garage with the key. So paddle my sorry butt back to shore load boat and go home.  :bash:

Was field hunting waterfowl with a buddy in high school and we had no blind and were on the neighbors land (with permission) so we sat in the tall grass along the electric fence the neighbor usually had off when the cows were absent. A flock of geese flies by and my buddy raises his gun to shoot at them. I decided they were too far and decided not to bother. I had my shotgun between my legs so i could plug my ears when he shot and I leaned back and the barrel of the gun touched the fence.....which was definitely on. Nothing like getting whacked in the crotch by an electric fence through a shotgun to wake you up. My buddy was laughing so hard he couldn't shoot anyway.
Bang...Flop......No tracking required.

When I was young I got buck fever on a doe and started ejecting shells without pulling the trigger.  In my mind I was hearing the report of the rifle, but my dad wasn't buying it.

my dumbest moment was when my uncle and i both shot elk(a cow and 250 class bull) in the same set up.95-100 degree heat,3 hours from the truck and another 4 back to the cooler. the cow died fast but the bull was hit high and kept going and going and going..had to give up chase to save the cow from spoiling..figured that way we would only lose one elk instead of two :'(. we have a one elk a day rule now in hot weather...

Went hunting with one arrow on thanksgiving sportsmans was closed.  Missed a 2 point from 20 yards over his back shooting with my 30 yard pin  :'( then as I looked for my arrow in the brush the buck stood there and watched for at least 45 min.  I found my arrow the next day but no deer.

At this point, fart gambling is the clear leader. Such good stories. My brother went out with us last year for pinks and he landed a monster. Got the fish in the boat and did a quick clean, put it in the cooler and went to fill out the punch card..... no punch card, it was still in the car.

Another time I got my float tube out on a lake and kicked a ways out only to realize my flies were sitting on my desk at home.

Funniest thing ever seen was on the Edmonds fishing dock. This poor guy would tie on a nice Point Wilson Dart (7-9 bucks each!) and go to cast.... crack off sailed the lure. He would tie another on and.... crack! After the 4th time I had to stop and explain that you can't use 8 lb test for salmon and to make sure you flip your bail before casting.

Had the same license brother chase me in the yard with no shoes and he squished dog poop inbetween his toes.

I've forgotten my binoculars on after work trips to the woods more than once. I plan to hunt until I die so I'm sure it wont be the last time.
