Sure, no law against it. You can carry a dozen if you like.

My hunting parnter and I talked about doing it but never did. (not a dozen but just two)

No..... But it's only loaded if primed and capped.... But why would you need to? One shot one kill.... Can you really picture yourself sneaking down a game trail with one in your hand... The other on your shoulder getting caught on all the branches your pack isn't.... Or do you shoot them like Rambo??!!!

  Yeah it is legal. There is no rule that says you can't have more then one. You can even pack a muzzle loader rifle and muzzle loader pistol if you want.

I could see where it might actually be useful to have two, if you were in a small ground blind, where it might be hard to get a second shot loaded quickly if you needed it.  Maybe?

For sure bobcat. There is a few cases that I could see having 2 of them. I have also been looking for a few of the pistols that meet the regs. The ones I wanted they have stoped making.

With the new regs I probably won't buy one now. I will be hunting more with a bow

I used to carry 2 into one particular spot.   Very easy access and a real regular elk crossing.   I figured it could come in handy to have a 2nd loaded rifle right there.    It never mattered.........

An old ex-cop that hunts with my uncle in Massachusetts looked into the law there, and found nothing against it.  My uncle says it's real funny to see him sitting on his deer stand holding one muzzle loader, and two more leaning against the tree.

Honestly?  I always thought the idea of hunting during the muzzleloading season was to accept the handicap of using a single shot rifle in return for the opportunity to hunt during the special season.  Part of the idea is to develop proficiency with your gun and take good shots, passing on marginal ones.  I also thought that the modern firearm season was for people who wanted/needed more than one shot to get it done.  Do you mean that after 40+ years and multiple elk and deer harvested with a muzzleloader, flintlock at that, I've been wrong all along?

i think all hunters need to be proficient with their equipment and pass on marginal shots. i am all for taking any advantage i can while remaining lawful, and see nothing wrong with packin 2 smokepoles if a guy wants to.
now because i choose to hunt with a rifle i want/need multiple shots, sounds like you are calling all rifle hunters out saying they cant shoot?  not that i just like to hunt with my gun?

I hunt with a rifle sometimes too, I went to Idaho for a modern firearm hunt last year.  I have a scope on my rifle too but don't want one on my muzzleloader.  My point is that when I hunt the muzzleloader season I appreciate the opportunity to hunt during that time of the year, the weather is usually great, the elk are still bugling, the crowds are minimal.  The point of setting aside that season in the first place was to give hunters who chose to use a "primitive weapon" which is what they were in the beginning, a special time when they didn't have to compete with the crowds during the general season.  Archery seasons were set up the same way for the same reason.  (I used to be in the archery business too)  To me the challenge I accept by using a less efficient weapon is part of the fun of the hunt.  If I want to hunt the special season but try to eliminate as much of the challenge and disadvantage as I possibly can through equipment improvements, extra guns, etc, it seems like I'm being a hypocrite.  You do what you want, this is my choice and these are the reasons I made the statement that I did.  As I stated in my original comments, after 40+ years of hunting with a lot of different muzzleloaders in Washington, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho, I've not found a reason to carry two muzzleloaders.  I've been fortunate enough to kill a good number of elk and deer.  I've also hunted with modern firearms and bows in a lot of different places and worked as a professional hunting guide and packer for a number of outfitters in three states and one Canadian province.  I have no ill feelings about hunting with modern weapons or whatever else somebody chooses to use as long as it's legal.  I do have my preference and I also have my opinion which I stated above.  I feel like it's reasonable.  If you don't agree with me well that's OK, but I don't agree with you then either.  That's fair.

Good post and explanation rg. I fully understand your feelings. I guess I may have read your post a bit wrong. I just don't think a hunter of.any type should talk down on another type of hunting. Personally I love to do it all and have taken elk and Deer with all 3 methods as well.

We're all hunters, we share that interest, or if you are like me, passion.  We are also all individuals so we don't think the same way about things, thank goodness.  I have a Dodge Cummins truck, I love it, my friends drive Fords, Chevys, Toyotas, ...  That's OK with me too.  If somebody says there's something wrong with me for liking my Dodge then I get irritated. If they want to try to convince me to buy the Chevy Duramax by telling me why they think it's the best for them, I will listen to their argument, I might even be convinced to agree if they are good, but I get to choose my own favorite in the end.  That's what's great about this country.  I was joking to some degree in my original comments and probably could have done a better job of wording my thoughts to not sound like I was trashing somebody who likes to have more than one shot available.  I like to hunt with a flintlock I built myself but I have percussion and inline muzzleloaders too.  I even have an AR15 in the house for goodness sake.  I own a recurve and a compound bow too and have used wood and graphite arrows.....  and I hope I draw the bull tag for Bumping Unit this year my horse is getting fat and needs to pack out heavy antlers!

Exactly, if I draw my muzzy permit for the blues someday, my hunting pard will be carrying his muzzy loaded for me.  Two quick shots on a 350+ bull sounds better to me than one shot and reloading.

I thought of it too. Not packing them around. But I hunt out of ground blind a lot.
Have one in the blind. And one ready to go out side . I shot a spike one year.
It went 100 ft out of sight and died. Didn't know it so I took the time to put out the fire in the blind and reload.
Could save some time having the 2 nd one ready outside. Especially on public land other folks want to claim your elk.

The one barrel thing addresses being able to aim one gun and shoot two barrels.

Not the same thing as a 2 nd muzzy in my thinking.

It sock to crow through brush with 2 rifles. The 1 on your back hooks everthing. But it did save my butt. I jump up a nice doe and she stopped at 5 yards away. I pull the trigger and there was a pop but no boom.  She jumped but didn'the run. I droped the first rifle and pulled the off my back. Primed and fired fast.She jumped and ran.  No blood hmmm. Did i miss?  Hell no 2 hours looking I was sitting on a rock. I could hear hikers and one of them said ( pore, deer someone shot her. pore thing).  MY EAR PERKED UP BIG. That was about 80 yards away from me. I made my way to her and boom there she is.  I will never use cheap stop bullets again. I shot her broad side at 13 ft and the bullet did'nt even go through her. It went halfway ànd turned south. Ended up in one of the tenderloins. Bodyou cavity was full of blood.    The short story is Yes legal and I wouldn't do it again if you have to crawl or push through brush. Plus it is a batch to Carey two rifles and a doe out. LOL
