Rayonier selling use permits in Pacific county on E-bay
« on: October 09, 2012, 04:38:30 AM »
Just had this link sent to me.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Salmon-Creek-Access-Permit-Elk-/330587920505

They auctioned off 4 use permits that allow hunting for elk, camping, keys to get past the gates and road use.

Didn't see it posted when I searched. Thought some of you might be interested.

The expiration shows 2011 on this... Did they screw up the ad?  I would have to contact Rayonier to see if this is even legit... This just has too many red flags to me...

Edit: Never mind, this was the 2011 auction, doesn't look like they did a 2012.  I would still make sure I carefully vetted something like this though...

Wow $2300 bucks. I don't mind paying for access to private timber lands but that's scary to me.

It's real.  I've hunted that property for the better part of 20 years.  My partner and his family for much longer.  We have friends and family that have had their ashes spread up there.
There is no access without the trespass permit.

They went for more $$$ this year.  It's the bleak future of land access in Washington.

Well I have always supported the timber and farms with tax cuts when they allowed hunting. So if this gets out of hand lets just tax them at the same rate as the rest of us for small plots of land. May just cure out states tax income problem. And lower out tax burden, then we can afford to hunt where we used to.

The last time I brought this up I was slammed by several people who said they don't get a tax break. The way i read it they do and the way I understand it they can be taxed at a higher rate if they don't allow "recreation". It would just have to be voted for.

if the timber company didnt recieve lower taxes why would they allow you on there properties ever, why would people honestly think these lands are ever open if no incentives to do so, they would sell keys or use permits.

They used their own "Bidding" website this year. The "For Sale" permits sold out in like 3 days and the "Bidding" permits went for much more this year...closer to $3000 for the rifle hunts.  :bash:

It was their own bidding website this year.  The site was pulled down the instant the bidding was over, so there will not be any ebay evidence of how much they went for from here on out.
