I forgot to register untill a few weeks ago and got the last position in the 'main' area. The firing line has different sections...one area on the east end for the .50 cal folks.  There are photos on the website..not the easiest site to navigate for sure.
Anyway...1st shooter is $200, 2nd is $80 and 3rd is $50.  No charge to watch.
Joe has expanded things since I was there last.

The targets were at 375 +/- yards and up on the hill at 575 to 700yards. According to the event director and orginator of the shoot, Joe Huffman, there were 150 shooters this year and about 1000 targets.  He and his crew are licensed by ATF to make the targets and it took them 2 days to do so.  When hit, the targets explode with a loud BOOM and some smoke as in the first picture.
The second picture shows the kick-off fireball...which was a large quantity of flamable liquid set off with a boomer that was shot by the fella in the right of the photo shooting a suppressed AR of some type...There was quite a shock wave where I was.
At the lunch break someone launched an 85 lbs. anvil 80 to 100 feet in the air with 1 lb. of Pyrodex.  It can be seen in the 3rd photo.  This was followed by someone else launching a couple bowling balls several hundred feet in the air and 300 yards down range..next photos.
It was fun, frustrating, humiliating and as the day went on, the targets somehow got smaller.
There are 75 shooting positions and can be up to 3 shooters per position.
There were alot of AR type rifles, 50 cal.rifles, average hunting rifles, bench guns, specially built long range rifles...a little of everything

I just noticed, you were able to catch the bowling ball and anvil in flight in your photos, very cool!

Thanks..it was a blast.
I misspelled Joe Huffman's name above and a bolling ball is the same as a bowling ball.

The current NRA National Civilian record holder at 300 yards was at boomershoot and her write up is at...
