Got my 450 Ultra Magnum back from Kampfeld Custom.
« on: April 27, 2012, 05:05:48 PM »
I drew a bull tag last year and in my haste to get my 450 Ultra done in time for the permit. I tossed the reamer, action, stock and barrel in a box and send it to Benchmark Barrels in Arlington to just have them get it up and running and back to me in a hurry for the permit season. Shortly after I shot my bull with it I sent it off to Kampfeld Custom. I had it bedded, the base holes opened to 8/40, the bolt TI fluted, a hunter bolt knob installed and the caliber designated on the barrel.  Karl does pristine work and is well worth the wait. Here are a few pictures of his finishing work on my Benchmark built 450/ .375 Ultra Magnum. I was just going to have it designated 450 Ultra Magnum but I had several PH's tell me it was a better idea to designate it 450/ .375 Ultra Magnum if I ever planned on taking it over seas. Due to the head stamp issue. They said as long as the deisgnation had .375 Ultra Mangum in it like the head stamp on the brass I use to form the 450's cases, I would be good to go.

I see you are up to your usual behavior. Your rifle is awesome.

Your grass looks like crap. There, I feel better now.

I am completely ashamed of the condition of the grass. I've been busy shooting at chit and working, I will address the issue shortly.

Is this better? One extreme to the other. Quite green and full, uncut as of this year.
